Retinal complications associated with congenital optic disc anomalies determined by swept source optical coherence tomography☆

Optical coherence tomography has evolved over the past 2 decades to be an important ancillary method to evaluate diseases of the anterior and posterior segments of the eye. The more recent development of swept-source optical coherence tomography (SS-OCT) with a wavelength-tunable laser centered at 1050 nm and deeper imaging depth of 2.6 mm has enabled clinicians to evaluate congenital optic dis...

[Retinal detachment associated with morning glory syndrome].

CASE REPORT A twenty three year old woman was diagnosed of a morning glory papillary anomaly, then with normal visual acuity (VA). Nine years later, the VA decreased to 0.4, secondary to a serous macular detachment, confirmed by optical coherence tomography (OCT). After treatment with C2F6 gas injection, positioning, and peripapillary laser, the VA improved to 0.7 and the foveolar area reattach...

An unusual case of congenital unilateral Coats's disease associated with morning glory optic disc anomaly.

We present the case of a 13-year-old girl with a right congenital esotropia who at the age of 6 months presented an anomaly of the optic disc and retinal vessels in the same eye. In the following year she developed Coats's disease, rubeosis iridis, and neovascular glaucoma that led to enucleation. Pathological examination confirmed the clinical diagnosis.

Intraoperative optical coherence tomography assisted analysis of pars Plana vitrectomy for retinal detachment in morning glory syndrome: a case report

BACKGROUND The pathogenesis of non-rhegmatogenous retinal detachment (non-RRD) associated with morning glory syndrome (MGS) is not established, as well as best surgical approach to treat RD. Our purpose was to analyse intraoperative optical coherence tomography data (iOCT) in all steps of pars plana vitrectomy (PPV) for non-RRD in MGS, in order to follow pathophysiological aspects of the diseas...

Unilateral morning glory optic disc anomaly in a case with Down syndrome

BACKGROUND This case is unique because it is the first reported case of Down syndrome with morning glory optic disc anomaly in literature. CASE PRESENTATION A 15-year-old girl with features of Down syndrome presented to the Clinic of Ophthalmology for a regular ophthalmologic examination. Her best corrected visual acuity was 20/50 in the right eye and 20/20 in the left eye. The fundus examina...
